Privacy Policy

Your nearby signal stays quiet.

Ping is a proximity-first social app. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the controls you have when using Ping.

Last updated: May 6, 2026

1. Information We Collect

Ping may collect account details such as your name, username, phone number or email address, profile details, friend connections, app settings, and support messages you send us.

With your permission, Ping collects location data, including background location, so the app can detect when friends are nearby. We may also collect device information, notification tokens, log data, and basic usage information needed to keep the app reliable.

2. How We Use Information

We use your information to run Ping's core features: finding nearby friend overlap, sending quiet proximity alerts, applying cooldowns, supporting invisible mode, preventing abuse, fixing bugs, and improving app performance.

3. Location And Proximity

Ping uses location to decide when friends are within the nearby radius, such as 500m. Ping is not designed as a public live map. Your exact live location is not shown publicly to other users through the app experience.

You can control location permission from your device settings. Some proximity features may stop working if location permission or background location permission is disabled.

4. Sharing Of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited information with service providers that help us operate Ping, such as hosting, database, authentication, notifications, diagnostics, and security services. We may also share information if required by law or to protect users, Ping, or the public.

5. Your Controls

You can use app controls such as invisible mode, manage friend connections, turn notifications on or off, and change app permissions from your device settings. You may request account or data deletion by contacting us.

6. Data Retention And Security

We keep information for as long as needed to provide Ping, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain security. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data, but no method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.

7. Children's Privacy

Ping is not intended for children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will take steps to delete it.

8. Changes To This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Ping changes. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
